|CLC Institute is an Institutional building in Sikar, Jaipur, designed by Archpoint Consultants PVT. LTD
The design philosophy of Archpoint Consultants PVT. LTD strongly believes in environmental design as its conceptual framework.
In the present scenario where all the resources are depleting because of overuse, Sustainability is the key to save the nature and develop a project such that it blends in with its surroundings and thrive in its lifecycle.
Sikar is the district headquarters situated in the eastern part of Rajasthan. The semi-desert territory has hillocks in the center and the undulating and sloping region in the north and northeastern parts.
The site experiences a hot and arid climate.
The main idea behind the design is to create a high-density compact settlement which helps in increased interaction between the occupants of the campus.
The building is designed on the basis of energy conservation concept which will help in making the building sustainable in the long run. Various steps have been taken while designing CLC Institute to minimize the consumption of energy and utilize the available natural materials and resources.
Some of the features which make this building sustainable are:
Conservation of energy:
Various steps are taken to minimize the energy consumption in the building, such as, use of LEDs which are eco-friendly as well as consume less amount of electricity, low watt fans are used to serve the same purpose.
Photovoltaic panels are used to utilize the natural factors available to its full capacity.
Natural light during the day is utilized to minimize the expenditure on the artificial lighting system.
Wastewater obtained from the building is recycled and then reused for washing and horticulture purposes.
Water harvesting system is proposed for the whole building area to collect the rainwater which can be utilized in various uses and aspects.
Selection of materials:
The cement used in the building is PPC (Portland Pozzolana Cement) that contain 15-20% of fly ash rather than using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) which is not that eco-friendly in comparison.
The construction of cavity walls in the building plays a major role as a heat barrier and thus helps in maintaining a stable and comfortable temperature in the interiors.
In the places to provide an outer view from the building, toughened glass is used which reduces heat transmission
Natural materials and building features such as Karoli stone, Agra red stone, kadappa stone, jaali have been used.
SITE PLAN (Block positions)
The composition of various blocks has been done in a manner to regularize the circulation within the campus.
The CLC Institute has a total capacity to provide facility to 15000 students.
Some of these include the day scholars, as well as the hostellers.
Therefore to develop an education rich environment, dwelling units have been provided for the students who wish to stay and study there.
Hence this institute will help students to reach their goals and have a brighter future.
